Some Practical Jokes Aren’t Funny
May 27, 2008Indians Ride Gutierrez Blast To Victory
May 28, 2008While I was under the impression that Jake Westbrook would simply jump in to the vacated roster spot of now-injured Fausto Carmona, it appears that the Tribe brass has seen enough of one Jorge Julio.
From Indians.com:
Just a few days after praising Jorge Julio as one of the best arms in the bullpen, manager Eric Wedge announced the Indians are designating the veteran for assignment.
Soon after Julio gave up five earned runs in only an inning and two-thirds, I said that it was time for him to go. While Fausto wasn’t stellar by any means, this team simply cannot come back from something like that; we can barely overcome one or two-run games.
The real testament to how the Tribe feels about the recent performance of Julio is that Scott Elarton – fresh off of an appearance that saw him allow three earned runs in only one inning (with four hits and two walks, mind you) – gets to stay on the big-league roster. For now.
That sound you hear? Oh, that’s just Jensen Lewis scratching his head.
