Les Levine weighs in on another losing April for the Tribe. It’s interesting that the Tribe have only had one winning April under Eric Wedge, last year. And that was also the only time Wedge has taken this team to the playoffs. Is it possible that the Indians are doomed to miss the playoffs again if they wind up with another losing April? And what does this say about Eric Wedge?

I think it’s premature to be calling “fluke” on Eric Wedge or suggesting that a guy that won the Manager of the Year just a few months ago is now the captain of a sinking ship. Wedge is here to stay. But I wouldn’t be shocked if Willis or Shelton get shown the door if we’re still a mess a month from now.
I think what makes a manager good or bad is not how they play coming out of the gate, because you have no way of really knowing how good or bad you are by spring training. The question is, will Eric make the right adjustments, even if they are tough ones?
When the Tribe stayed pretty much the status quo this off-season, you would think they should’ve been ready to fire out of the gates. It’s excusable to stumble out of the gates if you made a lot of changes (Detroit)….players need to find their role & figure each other out. But if a team pretty much stays the status quo (Tribe), their start is inexcusable. They need to turn it around soon. It’s hard to win a pennant in April, but you sure can lose one.
