Lee Presses On
April 13, 2008Twisted Loyalties
April 14, 2008Rick coming at you with a morning minute today-
How about them Cavaliers? What an excited, hard fought victory over the D-League Miami Heat yesterday…
Seriously. Did you see that Miami line-up? Ricky Davis and Mark Blount are the only guys on that team that resemble NBA players, and that isn’t saying much. Rick Noland of the Medina County Gazette summed this one up best-
There are some games the Cavaliers can’t help but win. Sunday was one of them, as Cleveland registered a less-than-impressive 84-76 victory over the woeful Miami Heat at Quicken Loans Arena. The game was so blasé Cavaliers coach Mike Brown’s postgame press conference lasted 41 seconds and didn’t include a single question from media members, who appear to want the regular season to end as much as Cleveland’s players do.
Yep. Cavs fever. Catch it. It’s sad too, because Cleveland is heading for a first round match-up with Washington, who would be satisfied if all they did was beat the Cavaliers in the playoffs. They want to play us. They need to play us. For them it is about redemption, it’s about finally knocking off the team that has eliminated you 2 straight years. The Cavs want no part of Washington. Well, they may want a piece of DeShawn Stevenson.
“I wanted to play somebody else,” James said. “But if we had to play somebody, I’m happy it’s Washington.”
For the past few weeks, the Wizards have been stirring things up with comments about James and the Cavaliers, who beat Washington in six games in 2006 and then swept the Wizards in four straight last year. First, DeShawn Stevenson called James “overrated.” Then, Gilbert Arenas said in a blog last week that “everybody wants Cleveland in that first round.”
Harwood Paroxysm asked WFNY to take part in a playoff series roundtable with a couple of Washington blogs. I accepted, but I have to say, other than LeBron wanting to stuff Stevenson’s comments down his throat, I can’t think of a good reason the Cavs should even win this series the way they are playing right now.
Let’s just move on. The NFL Draft is fast approaching, and since the Browns don’t have a first day selection the site has been a little dry on the NFL front. So to remedy that, we’re holding a Draft Contest for NFL blogs. Each team will be (hopefully) represented by a fan blog, and those blogs will be trying to prove that they know their team best by correctly identifying the first five picks their team has. Ghosts of Wayne Fontes, the Phinsider.com, Cat Crave, and Stripe Hype.com are all in so far for their teams. If you are an NFL blogger and want to pick for a team, send me an email.
Did you say something about being on tv? Yeah, I’m going to be in studio Wednesday for More Sports and Les Levine. It’s on the North East Ohio Network on Time Warner Cable. The show starts at 6pm, with replays at 11pm. I guess I’ll be talking about the site and taking calls as well, so please WFNY fans call in and join the conversation.
Nice concise recaps of the weekend games by Scott. Also, you will want to check back this afternoon, Rock is working on a piece that you won’t want to miss.

Rick! TV, roundtables – you guys have made it and it’s well deserved.
Thanks for the support Carlolyn, I think I’d reserve that ‘made it’ tag however….
I’m coming around to the jettison Mike Brown camp. He’s managed to grind down the new players to fit in roles that weren’t working before, all in a month or so.
And what’s up with Andy? Dude was one of the most popular players just 9 months ago and now I hope Ferry can unload him in the off-season.
Adam- Good point about Andy, he has not played well at all since coming back from his injury. I don’t know if there is a lingering problem, but it wouldn’t surprise me with how slow he is moving. Obviously Andy thrived as the 3rd big man, coming in and grabbing every rebound there was. Oddly, before the injury (and the trade obviously) Andy was getting more crunch time minutes than either Gooden or Zydrunas, and he was producing in those minutes.
Since then he has seen his role change, he had to be an intergral part of the offense when Z was hurt, and it seems he is a man without defined expectations. Whatever the circumstances are that have led to this point, he is not quite the player he was in December.
You can just feel this team give up a little more every game. It seems like they hate being on the court. They’re as motivated as the French army.
