02/09 Morning Minute: Who Is This Guy?
February 9, 200802/10 (Not-so) Morning Minute: Cribbs to the Crib
February 10, 2008Have I ever mentioned that I don’t really care for Boston fans? I have huh? Ok, just checking. Well it appears that a growing number of Internet savvy Patriot fans are a bit upset about the Super Bowl. Not that they lost. Not that a perfect season was ruined. But that the Giants, and the refs “cheated them” out of what was rightfully theirs. Kissing Suzy Kolber found this online petition from Boston fans calling for NFL head honcho Roger Goodell to investigate the ending of the Super Bowl, because they suspect foul play. One of the signatures actually suggests…get this…REPLAY THE LAST 1:40 OF THE SUPER BOWL!
Why you ask? Apparently they have several reasons, not the least of which is that they have ‘photo evidence’ of holding on the play in which Eli Manning escapes the pass rush and heaves the ball to David Tyree. That’s right. They found holding on the play. Imagine that. An NFL play in which an offensive lineman holds and doesn’t get a penalty called. Does that ever happen? Surely this is a travesty and must be investigated. (Sorry, the web site with this ‘evidence’ has been shut down.) In addition, they claim that the time keeping was in some way not properly done, and that the clock should have only had 42 seconds on it when the Giants took the ball on their game winning drive. They argue that since that drive took 52 seconds that obviously the Patriots should be awarded the win, because the Giants wouldn’t have scored.
Where do you begin here? Boston fans, I think that perhaps you really need to get over yourselves. Listen to some of the comments made on this petition…
38. Dave Rosenthal I can’t believe this isn’t a big story. I mean, we should be 19-0, but the NFL hates that Pats, so instead we have to go through this the rest of our lives knowing we got gypped.
109. Andrew Paterson It is obvious that, whether by accident or intent, the clock was kept in the last 1:40 illegally and in such a way that it cost the New England Patriots a fair chance to win the Super Bowl. This is not bitterness talking, I actually believe the outcome would or could have been different. Please, at the very least an acknowledgement or apolgy, if not your ordering of a replay of the game from that point on, even though I realize how much that is to ask.
This one is great, Erik the line on the Super Bowl was a little more than Pats -4…
194. Erik Frenz I don’t know much about the rules of the NFL but as a Patriots fan if this is true I feel cheated. If this is true there should seriously be a replay of the last 1:40 of the Super Bowl. I didn’t bet on it myself, but a lot of people lost or gained a lot of money on this game and the real outcome deserves to be known.
And here it is, the grand daddy of them all…
193. John Vairo I would like to call out all the hypocritical Giants’ fans here. If you think you’re so amazing, then why are you so afraid to possibly play another game? According to you, the Super Bowl is more important than any other game. So if you were so “dominant” in this “fixed” game, why are you so afraid to replay 2 minutes of a game or even a whole additional game? You talk so high and mighty like you’re the greatest team ever, but then hide in the corner, content with the excuse of “Well, we won. It doesn’t matter if it was fixed or not.” I strongly encourage the commissioner of the NFL to investigate this matter, because to not, would destroy the integrity of the game, and will make me stop watching the NFL from now on, because it is clearly fixed.
YES!!! That’s right folks, Patriot fan calling out another team for winning a game without integrity! AWESOME! I can’t make this stuff up! I could try, but the truth is much funnier!

One thing I find funny (ridiculus not haha) is that these fans actually believe that the NFL is against them. Especially after they did practically nothing when the evidence of their illegal actions were proven. How’s that for integrity? And they call us frustrated buckeye fans whiney…sheesh
So, in Erik’s scenerio all of those people that won money on the Giants have to give it back until the game is replayed? Yeah, that could happen…
This just proves that stupid New England/Boston mentality that the fans in that area have. They obviously feel entitled because their from Mighty Boston. As Cleveland fans we know all to well about losing. But I doubt that any of us would go to measures like these. What a bunch of whiny dopes.
Are you serious??? These Patriot fans are rediculous… I suppose they dont recall any of the ‘phatom’ calls they got throughout the season. I count 1 in Baltimore on a defensive hold that was called after the ball landed, well late of any so-called penalty. Grow up and accept a loss. I am sure everyone that bet the Giants had the spread so winning or losing money is irrelevent.
