Good Morning Mike Brown…
February 23, 2008Cavaliers Preview Game #56
February 24, 2008… where we get to see what the future holds.
As discussed earlier, Danny Ferry did his job, now the rest is in the hands of Mike Brown. I share the same sentiments in that tonight’s game should feature the starting lineup of West, Szczerbiak, James, Wallace and Ilgauskas. In fact, if only for the shear reason to see the crowd reactions during player intros of the three new parts to the team – with no disregard for Joe Smith.
I’m going to be watching this game very closely, but with tempered expectations. New systems may take a while to get used to, but I think it’s going to work. Eventually.
I’ve been hearing a lot of talk regarding “Is LeBron happy with the trade?” Whether it be on television, the radio, or a piece on the internet, the basic answer is “for the most part.” It is no secret that James wanted to play with Jason Kidd, and it is also not breaking news that Delonte West is a step down. If anyone is to blame, it’s Kidd for making $20 million in each of the next two seasons. But word on the street is that James wasn’t a big fan of Drew Gooden to begin with, and has gone on record to say that he’s grateful for Ferry doing something to make the team better.
He better be, as Dan Gilbert will be dishing out $9 million in luxury taxes.
Not too much else going on in the Cleveland sports world today. Sorry to hear that St. Ed’s will be sending only 11 kids to the state tournament. Obviously speaking in jest, as the 23-time state champions should have no problem taking it all again.
Have a good Sunday, all. Go Cavs.

That Washington Post article you linked to is interesting. I know, Washington liked Larry Hughes and he played his best basketball there, so of course they’re going to stick up for him. But wow, the way they gushed about Gooden, it was like they have never seen him play before. But my favorite line was “[West] doesn’t solve the Cavaliers’ problems at point guard, but he should be able to get Eric Snow’s minutes.” Wow, I didn’t know we traded for West so he could sit the bench all game. I figured we brought him here to start at PG and to play significant minutes.
